ROSALÍA BANET

Rosalía Banet is a multidisciplinary artist, whose practice always starts from drawing, to develop projects that take different forms and formats, from paintings or sculptures to installations and audiovisual pieces. Doctor in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo, in her doctoral thesis she approached the mark left by AIDS in Spanish art through the wounded body.

Through his work he analyzes and reflects on the systems and patterns we inhabit. Portrays society current with its excesses and imbalances, bringing to light the monsters that populate civilization contemporary. The three axes that structure his practice are the body and its diseases, the food, and territory.


In recent years he has received prestigious international awards and scholarships such as:

– Scholarship from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (2016/17)
– Artist in residence at Casa de Velázquez (French Academy in Madrid, 2018)
– Artistic residency at HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Programme, 2019).
